A true joy in life is meeting people who share our enthusiasm for things we love. I am fortunate to met my friend, Nikita who shares my spirit of adventure and figure-it-out attitude.

Before I went for MBA and Nikita began her startup (use Teleport for visas!), we decided to do something special — travel across Thailand 🇹🇭, Cambodia 🇰🇭, and Vietnam 🇻🇳 on bicycles!

Journey Dates: 16 May, 2022 to 1 June 2022

🚴‍♀️ Cycling in Thailand 🇹🇭

Thailand came across as a place with fascination for colors and cartoons, as seen on billboards even meant for adults. The people were polite, enthusiastic about their Royals, and passionate about automobiles. Yet they showed great respect for cyclists and pedestrians, making us feel safe on our cycles. The country's cleanliness, especially in public spaces, stood out, and the ubiquitous 7-Eleven stores became our go-to stops during our rides. While ice seemed to dominate drinks, we managed to find vegetarian food till Rayong. The serene, clean beaches in Rayong and Chanthaburi were an absolute highlight.

Finding bicycles 🚳

We spent two days in Thailand, exploring and looking for cycles. After considering second-hand options, we opted for new Rockrider ST 30 bikes from Decathlon. We almost lost ourselves when we discovered Decathlon’s policy of online orders and delivery of cycles in 2-3 days. With limited time, we convinced the store to let us pick the cycles from the warehouse, 30 km away from Bangkok, leading to an unplanned ride.

Day 1️⃣ → Cycled 50 km to Rayong, visiting Nongnooch Tropical Garden on the way in Pattaya

Day 2️⃣ → A 3-hour delayed start due to rains, cycled 95 km from Rayong to Chanthaburi

Day 3️⃣ → Took a taxi to reach Thailand-Cambodia border and cross into Cambodia
